The InnoEX and the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) have officially opened, marking a significant gathering of global technology experts with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. This event, which runs for four consecutive days at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, is jointly organized by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau (ITIB) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Under the theme “Innovate • Automate • Elevate,” the fairs showcase leading innovations in information and technology (I&T) solutions and cutting-edge electronic products, aligning with the National 15th Five-Year Plan and the I&T development directions outlined in the Hong Kong Government’s latest Budget.
The fairs are designed to attract technology enterprises, start-ups, and buyers from around the globe, creating a platform for collaboration and business opportunities. Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, stated that the council is dedicated to fostering world-class business platforms that encourage cross-regional, cross-industry, and cross-sector collaboration, thereby highlighting Hong Kong’s strengths in innovation and international business. This year, InnoEX and the Electronics Fair have brought together over 2,800 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions, showcasing innovations driven by AI and advanced electronic products.
The Launch of RoboPark
A notable feature of this year’s event is the debut of “RoboPark,” which spans both InnoEX and the Electronics Fair. This dedicated area showcases over 100 robots across various application scenarios, facilitating cross-regional exchange and industrial collaboration. Among the exhibitors are four of the world’s top five best-selling humanoid robot manufacturers, including AgiBot, Unitree, UBTECH, and EngineAI. Notably, Unitree is presenting its next-generation quadruped robot dog, the Unitree A2, which is capable of running at speeds of up to 5 m/s and can climb heights of up to 1 m. This robot is equipped with ultra-wide-angle LiDAR technology, enabling real-time 3D perception and environmental recognition, making it suitable for commercial and industrial applications.
In addition to international exhibitors, local companies such as Rice Robotics are showcasing autonomous robots designed for repetitive tasks in building and office environments, including delivery and security patrols. These robots utilize proprietary navigation technology and can operate autonomously, having already found applications in enterprises across Japan. The RoboPark area will host around 40 events, including live demonstrations and application sharing sessions, aimed at helping Chinese Mainland enterprises expand globally while providing a platform for collaboration between Hong Kong and international companies.
Focus on AI+ and the Low-Altitude Economy
InnoEX features over 550 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions, with first-time participation from several nations, reflecting Hong Kong’s growing recognition as a global I&T hub. The exhibition is organized around five key areas: AI+, Robotics, Low-altitude Economy, PropTech, and RetailTech. The Digital Policy Office is presenting the “Smart Hong Kong Pavilion,” which showcases innovative solutions from various government departments and local innovators.
Among the highlights in the AI+ category is the Water Supplies Department’s “Smart Inspection Robot Dog,” which employs multiple sensors for automatic monitoring of water facilities. Additionally, Tencent Cloud is showcasing AI solutions that enable enterprises to build their own mini-program ecosystems. In the robotics sector, companies like Wildfaces, Lenovo, and Intel are presenting a patented real-time AI fault detection system designed for use in hazardous environments.
The exhibition also emphasizes the development of a competitive low-altitude economy ecosystem, with a focus on positioning Hong Kong as a hub for low-altitude applications. A Low-altitude Economy Zone will feature technology applications from companies like China Mobile Hong Kong, which is demonstrating a drone traffic management system. This initiative is part of a broader effort to explore collaboration opportunities and market potential in low-altitude technologies.
The Electronics Fair's Diverse Offerings
The Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) focuses on three major areas: Smart Home & Solutions, Health Tech & Gadgets, and Pet Intelligence. This year, the fair features exhibitors from 15 countries and regions, with several nations participating for the first time. Noteworthy product launches include the “BG120 Smart Sports Glasses,” which integrate calling and AI voice assistant capabilities, and the “AI Smart Elderly Care Kit,” designed to monitor the health of elderly individuals.
With over 100 forums and exchange activities scheduled throughout the fairs, industry experts, academics, and buyers will converge to discuss the latest trends and technological innovations. A thematic seminar titled “Driving Innovation and Industry Development through China's Next Five-Year Roadmap” will feature successful enterprises sharing their experiences in leveraging Hong Kong as a strategic platform for expansion into the Greater Bay Area and the Asia-Pacific region.
The InnoEX and Electronics Fair not only highlight the latest advancements in technology but also emphasize the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving industry growth. As technology continues to evolve, events like these play a crucial role in connecting creators and technologists, fostering an environment ripe for exploration and development in the ever-changing landscape of I&T.
